Anyone who tells me I shouldn’t have pizza if I wanna lose the baby weight and feel my best is not someone I need in my life. This recipe is SO GOOD!! My entire family is in love!! We’ve experimented with a few different dough recipes and this seasoned sourdough is definitely the biggest hit!
With six kids and a nursing baby, date nights IN are a yes for me and we are definitely in our season of more family time than alone time! So finding meals that also provide some entertainment is always a plus. It’s safe to say this Friday night pizza tradition is quickly becoming a fave at the Folsom house.
Sourdough Pizza Crust Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 Tbsp Italian seasoning
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 cup all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, warm water, olive oil and seasonings. Gradually add the flour into the mixture, stirring until the dough forms.
- Step 2: Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. Do 2 round of stretch + folds, resting the dough 15 minutes in between. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise for 2-3 hours, or until it doubles in size.
- Step 3: Once the dough has risen, preheat your oven to the highest temp it can reach, usually around 500 F.
- Step 4: Once the dough has risen, divide into desired portions and shape them into pizza crusts. Place crusts on a baking sheet or pizza stone and add toppings. Bake the pizzas in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the toppings are cooke to your liking.
