One of our go-tos for this family of 8 on a Friday night is homemade pizza!! As a mom of 6 with some really stubborn personalities, this recipe wins because it satisfies them all while being healthy and homemade! We’ve experimented with a few different dough recipes and this seasoned sourdough is definitely the biggest hit!
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, warm water, olive oil and seasonings. Gradually add the flour into the mixture, stirring until the dough forms.
Step 2: Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. Do 2 round of stretch + folds, resting the dough 15 minutes in between. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise for 2-3 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Step 3: Once the dough has risen, preheat your oven to the highest temp it can reach, usually around 500 F.
Step 4: Once the dough has risen, divide into desired portions and shape them into pizza crusts. Place crusts on a baking sheet or pizza stone and add toppings. Bake the pizzas in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the toppings are cooke to your liking.
Notes
Our family of 8 doubles this recipe to make 3 thick crust pizzas. We could totally get 4 pizzas out of this batch, but my kids like thicker crust!
