About Micah
Hi, I’m Micah
The mama bear at Folsom Farm.
I grew up a city girl, fell in love with a country boy in college and the rest is history! We’re now homeschooling and raising our 6 amazing kiddos on a 40 acre farm in Southeast Idaho. And I’ll be completely honest… this country life was like a whole new world for me!!
I also never wanted to work once I became a mom. I only went to college to play collegiate volleyball and I planned on being a stay at home mom my whole life while supporting JD in his veterinary career and taking care of the home.
But then I found myself married at 19, a young first time mom at 20 learning how to care for our brand new baby 36 hours away from any family and I wound up in a serious FUNK – fully engulfed in motherhood and concerned with everyone else’s needs but neglecting my own.
And it wasn’t for lack of time, it was simply a lack of knowing what I needed to prioritize and how it all fit together.
I was doing everything I thought I was ‘supposed to do’ as a stay at home mom and I really just needed to take care of myself and fill my soul again. I needed to challenge myself.
I needed to grow as an individual so that I could become the version of myself that my children and spouse needed throughout life. And thankfully, Heavenly Father knew this, of course, and placed something in our life that allowed me to pour into myself AND into others that has become one of my great passions in this life.
That’s when I was given the opportunity to partner with BODi (formerly Team Beachbody) as a young mom of two kids under 4 while JD was in the trenches of Veterinary School and our life has never been the same since!
Being able to stay home with my kids has meant so much to me and my husband JD.
And having this positive outlet and additional income stream alongside my role as a mom has been life changing for us and one of the greatest gifts that I get to share with other mamas.
9 years into building my BODi business is when we got the heart tug to grow our beef operation that became Folsom Farm Beef so we could get incredible homegrown beef on the dinner table of more families who want to know their farmer and feel confident in the beef they’re consuming.
And in 2021 is when my desire to amplify my homemaker calling really got started. We got our first group of chickens and I got a glimpse of what it feels like to raise more of our own food.
That sparked something in me to not only raise animals but also make more of our foods with wholesome ingredients and I jumped head first into cooking from scratch and the whole world of sourdough and it has been so fulfilling!!
I constantly pause to appreciate how blessed I feel to be able to embrace all the heart tugs as they come throughout all seasons of life!
My friend, we don’t have to box ourselves in and feel exhausted throughout this life. We can create lives on purpose and make room for all the things that matter most to us!
