In this episode, I talk about my recent experience in hiring a new VA and how this experience prompted an important question: Why do people struggle with the idea that they aren’t qualified to do what they are called to do?
I dig deep into the things that are holding you back from taking action on the things that tug on our heart. Whether it’s in your business, your hobbies, or your relationships, you are already qualified to do whatever is on your heart. But it is on YOU to implement and take action.
Show Notes:
1:41 HIRING A BRAND NEW VIRTUAL ASSISTANT
My virtual assistant of five years decided to spread her wings and build her own business. This obviously left that position to be filled and I had over 85 applicants to fill this position!
There was this recurring theme of so many applicants who were already a part of Beachbody or wanted to be, loved the community, loved the products, wanted to be a bigger part of it, but they didn’t think they had what it takes to be a successful coach. So, they at least wanted to be a part of the behind the scenes work and work with somebody building a successful business.
This prompted an important question: Why do they struggle with the idea that they can do this business themselves and do BIG things? Why do some feel qualified where others don’t?
God doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called.
6:02 FEELING CALLED IN A CERTAIN DIRECTION
If we feel called in a certain direction, or if we feel pulled in a certain direction, there’s a reason for that. I was called to first be a photographer, then to be a coach, and then to start a podcast alongside coaching. These are not things that I had on my radar at all.
I just wanted to be a mom forevermore. But I felt those tugs on my heart and I just followed them through. That’s when you gain the experience, knowledge, and confidence. If you have the tug on your heart to do something, you have the qualification to take the next step towards it.
13:58 WE EXPECT PERFECTION
We expect ourselves to have it all together in order to help someone else improve that same area of their life. When really – if we’re one step ahead, we have what it takes to help them take the next step.
Think about your bishop, ministers, pastors who lead churches – do we expect perfection out of them? Do we expect them to be sin free to be credible and trusted? Of course not! Nobody is perfect.
When you experience struggle, you will serve your customers better.
16:40 WHAT ARE YOU HOLDING BACK?
Is there something in your life that is holding you back because you haven’t reached YOUR level of qualification?
- If you have the desire to do something – there is a reason for it.
- If you can commit to the process of improving, you’re already going to be on your way to be able to help others.
FACT: I felt unqualified to do this podcast in the beginning, but I didn’t let that feeling hold me back. My mission is to guide, teach, and uplift other people.
22:30 MY MARRIAGE STRUGGLE
I firmly believe that JD and I struggled in our marriage back in 2014 to put me in a position to better help other people also struggling in their relationships.
We really hit rock bottom and had to figure out if this was worth it. But working from the ground up and strengthening our relationship put us in a position to help others and share our story with others.
I fully believe there is purpose in pain.
You are already qualified to do whatever is on your heart – but it is on YOU to implement and take action.
