This week I have Jenn Trepeck, Optimal Health Coach and fellow podcaster who took the leap from the corporate 9-5 into the wellness space to help educate women on what it means to be healthy – especially around nutrition. Jenn has SO MUCH knowledge when it comes to the science behind food helping us understand the WHY, so I’m really excited for you to listen in on our conversation. Jenn and I also chat about the mindset needed behind the plan for what you put in your body because being healthy is a LIFESTYLE and our bodies do much better when we aren’t going from one extreme to the other. If nutrition is something you geek out about or are curious to learn more about, this episode is for you!!!AND as an added bonus, Jenn gives insight on what it takes to be a happy, healthy, and successful entrepreneur.
The American Dream is alive and well thanks to all the men and women who have fought for our freedom. My family and I are forever grateful for their sacrifice ??Happy Memorial Day!!!
Show Notes:
6:52 Fundamentals of Foods
Jenn speaks about her journey of leaving the corporate world and moving into the scene of health and wellness. Her number one goal is to educate and change the way people currently view healthcare. Her program teaches the fundamentals of how the body processes food and how different foods impact the body.
12:19 What’s on Your Fork
Eat what you like, but make sure to have protein and fiber at every meal and include high quality fats at least once a day. You cannot outrun your fork. You eat far more than you exercise which is why your diet is incredibly important on top of exercising.
20:00 Consistency is Key
Starts and stops and little vs extremes will not get you very far, because our bodies aren’t equipped for extremes. You’ll make more progress when you stick to things consistently. It’s about maintaining and sustaining a plan that works best for you. Timelines can be adjusted, goals should stay the same. Be in it all the way or not at all. Be open and communicate with the people around you.
29:53 Starting a Side Hustle
Jenn made sure of a few things when starting her business, including making sure she was financially sound, planning out her time, and thinking about what’s going to be different. What got you to a spot before may or may not be what gets you to your next place. Be open to changing your ways and your mindset. You are now in charge of the whole picture and your time.
39:17 Be a Balanced Entrepreneur
When you are your own boss, you have to take care of yourself first. If you are not well, your business is not going to be well. On the other end, don’t worry about being perfect, there’s value in people being able to see themselves in you. Also, don’t be so good that other people think they can’t do it. Be open to continuous learning and not always having the answers.
