In this episode, Micah talks about the importance of integrity and how it plays a key role in shaping our confidence and self-belief. She talks about the definition of integrity, how to make it a priority in your life, and why you can’t rely on inspiration and motivation alone. Today I want to talk about integrity, what it is, and what it looks like!
Show Notes:
1:39 THE DEFINITION OF INTEGRITY & WHY IT’S IMPORTANT
I looked up Integrity in the dictionary, and there were two definitions:
- The quality of being honest, and having strong moral principles.
- The state of being whole and undivided.
I want to talk about Integrity because this is such a huge component when it comes to building confidence and self belief. This is something that many people struggle with in their health journey, building their business, and in many other ways in life.
If you can get to a place where you hold yourself to this higher standard without anyone else having to do it for you, your life will explode as far as what you can accomplish and the growth you’ll experience.
5:25 RELYING ON EXTERNAL MOTIVATION
So many times we rely on external motivation. We rely on somebody else checking in on us and someone else lighting the fire. When you can stop relying on external motivation and you can become your own best accountability partner, you will level up in ways you don’t even see possible right now.
How do you feel when someone tells you one thing, and then blatantly disregards it and does something else? You don’t trust that person and don’t believe anything they say! However, this probably happens on a personal level more often than we’d like to admit.
8:44 MAKE INTEGRITY A PRIORITY IN YOUR LIFE
If you can really make this a priority for yourself, you can say “hey I am going to be a person of integrity because that is something that I value, I want to be trusted”. We lack self belief because so many times, we blow ourselves off, we let ourselves off the hook and fail to follow through with the things we tell ourselves we’re gonna do.
If you rely on feelings to take action, you are going to lose every time. You have got to figure out how to just do the thing you said you were going to do. (I know it’s easier said than done.)
I want you to have a gut check! If this is one characteristic that you can develop and make a priority for yourself, you will trust yourself more (and others will, too)!
13:35 AM I A PERSON OF INTEGRITY?
Ask Yourself: Am I a person of integrity and is this something I want to be?
You likely value this characteristic in your spouse, friends, and people around you. So then why are we not valuing that characteristic in ourselves? When our words and behaviors are in alignment, we actually stay committed to the things that we say we’re gonna do and this is such a simple way to build trust and confidence within ourselves! We would stop letting ourselves off the hook when things aren’t convenient and show up for the things we already said are important to us.
14:48 YOU CAN’T RELY ON INSPIRATION & MOTIVATION
You can get inspired and get motivated – but you can’t rely on that to keep showing up! This has to come from an internal place – generating the confidence and self belief – and building on that every single day.
Do yourself a favor – decide what you need to do to be the person you wanna be and reach the goals you have….. then actually create the game plan to commit to and follow through! You will generate energy to continue showing up and building your confidence every step of the way.
