Show Notes:
05:30 Path To Leadership
Adrian shares how he got into this work, beginning with his childhood and his role model parents. He stepped out into the world with a nursing degree. From there he became a community activist and traveled the world to help in disaster situations. After connecting with some individuals, he moved on to work in the prison system. When he handed that off, he then started his leadership career path.
13:40 Fearless Leadership
Concern sometimes shows itself as fear. The best thing to do is to lean into fear to uncover the root cause of concern and become wiser. The human brain is wired to help us stay alive, so fear is normal. Don’t give into fear, use it and learn from it. You will better be able to learn from fear versus giving into it if you really want your end goal.
23:06 Commitment
There’s always reasons for why we do things. Commitment can be something big or can even be a small comfort and just being “fine”. What we commit to always comes down to cost versus benefit. What are we willing to do to get what we want and is it worth it? We are always going to ask ourselves that question.
28:05 Confidence or Courage?
Confidence wavers at times for anyone because it’s part of our human nature. We are naturally going to question if we have what it takes to do something. The best thing to do is go after courage instead. Courage is something you can hone in on. Strong leaders who have built up courage generate results with the help of experts who want to make a difference.
40:24 Trust and Thoughts
Having the courage to lead starts with trusting yourself. It’s hard because we have let ourselves down at some point or another, but we have to trust ourselves when it comes to trying something new. On the flip side, we need to put our thoughts of ourselves aside and trust the people around us. That will give us the most amount of confidence and willingness to succeed.
